Renderign am in occasional contact with employees at DS SolidWorks Corporation and am sometimes asked to provide feedback on new products or programs. The first thing you might try is to use a Camera for the view or at least turn on Perspective for the main view. Then I’d suggest instead of just changing the color of components make sure you apply materials so photorealistif there will be texture and everything won’t look flat. This will give you a scene that looks much more natural to the eye.


The only difference between these to renders is environment and I had to dull the lighting on one of them so its wasn’t complete washed out.

For powder coated surfaces I use the Spray Paint appearance and then change the color as needed. This tool uses JavaScript and much of it will not work correctly without it enabled. Chapter 9 talks about the different methods to output your rendered image. You don’t have JavaScript enabled. Using a camera like others have mentioned is very important for realistic looks, the other is the environment used in the scene.
