There have been several attempts at creating this text, yet none stand up to Lovecraft’s own descriptions of the Necronomicon. Alhazred is the main character tysin the book, which should be obvious, and tends to be very dark and brooding although given what happens to him at the beginning this is understandable.

Even though this is disguised as a non-fiction how-to book, Tyson manages to convey his “instructions” without sacrificing the “showing” of the story. As I mentioned earlier, there are several points in the book where it becomes unnecessarily slow.
